Network Connectors

 1)RJ-45 CONNECTOR

RJ-45 connector is crimped at the two ends of the network cable (CAT 5/ CAT6) and then it is inserted into the RJ-45 jack available in the Network Interface card of the network device like desktop computer, Laptop, switch, router, IP phone, printer etc. so that the network devices can communicate with each other. RJ means registered jack and 45 refers to the interface standard.RJ45 consists of 8-pins. And these pins are inserted in to the 8 wires of the cat 5/CAT 6 cable.

 2)UTP COUPLER

UTP Coupler is used when we want to connect two network cables which are terminated with RJ-45 connectors. It means two small network cables can be made into a larger cable by joining them using a UTP coupler.

3) RJ-48 CONNECTOR

RJ-48 is similar to RJ-45 .RJ-48 is used with shielded twisted pair cable instead of unshielded twisted pair cable that is used with RJ-45.The wiring of RJ-48 is different from RJ-45. RJ-48 is mainly used with T1 lines.

4) RJ-11 CONNECTOR

RJ-11 is mainly used to connect telephone equipment. It is a four wire connector. RJ-11 can be used in modems which in turn is used to connect computers. RJ-11 has a single locking tab to lock itself into a place. It looks similar to RJ-45 but the size is smaller.

5) BNC CONNECTOR

BNC stands for Baynet Neil Console. It is used for connecting coaxial cable. Its application is for audio and video transmissions. Various types of BNC connectors include BNC T-CONNECTOR, BNC-COUPLER and BNC TERMINATOR. BNC-T Connector connects 3 coaxial cables together. BNC coupler connects two coaxial cables together. BNC terminator is used to terminate the ends of the Coaxial cable.

6) F-TYPE CONNECTOR

F-TYPE connector is a threaded Connector typically used on coaxial cables. These are primarily used by cable provides to attach to cable modems. F-TYPE connector is also used with satellite internet.

7) USB CONNECTOR

USB is used in desktop computers, laptops and many other networking and electronic devices. USB wireless network adapter and wired USB network adapter are also used for desktop computer and laptops.

8) FIBER OPTIC CONNECTOR

SC Connector

Its also called standard Connector. It uses a push-pull mechanism same as audio and video cables.

MTRJ Connector

This Connector also uses a push-pull latch mechanism.

MTRJ means Mechanical Transfer Register Jack.

It looks similar to RJ-45 Jack.

LC CONNECTOR

LC Connector is also called Local Connector or Lucent Connector.

This Connector is smaller compared to SC CONNECTOR .

It locks itself into the place where it is connected.

ST Connector

This Connector is also called the Straight Tip Connector.

Half-twist bayonet type of lock is used in this Connector.

It is developed by AT&T. Its drawback is its large size.

Fiber Coupler

Fiber Coupler is used to join two same fiber optic connectors.

UPC vs APC COUPLERS

UPC stands for ultra physical contact and APC stands for angled physical contact.

APC Connectors will have the eight-degree angle endface and UPC Connectors will have the flat endface.

So in UPC Connectors the reflected light will be reflected back to the source but in APC Connectors the reflected light will be reflected back into the wall of the cable and this reduces the signal loss.
