Firewall is a network device, which stops the company network from the outside attacks like from internet. It does so by checking the incoming and outgoing packets into and from the network. The network administrator will configure the firewall to block and allow the required IP address.
A firewall can be a
software, hardware or both.
The Firewall is
placed at the starting of the network. Any packet entering the
company’s network from internet will have to pass through the
firewall and undergo the inspection. If it is malicious packet then
it will be dropped or it will be allowed to pass.
